The management of the Joint Admissions and Matriculaton
Board (JAMB) MR Ishaq Oloyede recently disclose the announcement of  JAMB
UTME 2018 Announces That Over 1 Million Candidates Scored 100 and Above in The

The estimate was made to be that just 1,178,665
candidates scored the 100 and above and out of the 1,840,225 candidates that
registered only about 800,000 candidates posses the five credit at the ordinary
level (o'level) requirement. He
said: “There are 767 tertiary higher institutions in Nigeria and about 560,168
candidates have been admitted. About 20 per cent of the candidates are in SS2,
they only took JAMB for trials.”The
JAMB registrar however stated that the involvement of parents in examination
malpractice remains a major challenge for the Board as most parents
can go to any length to ensure their children pass the examination at
all cost. He pointed out cases of parents paying huge amount of money
into fraudulent account in order to pave way for their wards.
