POLITICS IN POLITICAL SCIENCE, DEPT, UNIZIK - Gist coming from the Senate house, Political science department Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, UNIZIK shows a tension and a battle for power and Supremacy between the 400 level and 300 level students, over who heads the Senate house.

According to the Departmental constitution, it sure States that the post of the Speaker is reserved for the Final years, nothing added. But due to some in house arrangements between the 300 level and other few persons, they rode over the law which should supercede all others enactments and bye laws.
Like a coup where the plotters are discrete and rushy about activities, they hurried through the elections that produced the 300 level student as Senate leader despite protestations by the only available member of the 400 level Senator on seat at that moment.

This has been considered a flouting of authority by the older students, not just that, the election and inauguration was rushed and conducted in a shoddy manner with the absence of key members of the Senate and the over ruling of basic procedures of inaugrating new house leaders.

As expected in every situation, the 400 level class has decided not to recognise the Office as being occupied, and as such request that the anomaly be corrected with immediate effect.

With the situations of things, most times I don't blame our Senior Politicians, because if Students can play this kind of senior and serious power tussle, then the future of the country is uncertain.
They seem to be taking a cue from their senior colleagues as the Present Senate President was elected in almost the same manner.
The Power play and intrigues surrounding politics as a game cannot go down well with a faint hearted fellow, and as it stands, our students are developing the basic Survival skills to enable them survive and swim through the raging rivers of Politics.

This calls for carefulness and caution, because the future is still in these hands and as such cannot be played with.
